Dubai Chamber and Amazon Collaborate to Elevate UAE’s E-commerce Landscape

In a strategic move to bolster the UAE’s e-commerce ecosystem, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, part of the Dubai Chambers collective, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with global online retail giant, Amazon. This collaboration aims to host an innovative online workshop aimed at enhancing the e-commerce capabilities of the local business sector, empowering companies to amplify their digital sales channels.

With e-commerce in the UAE on a trajectory to exceed $6.7 billion in revenue by 2024, this initiative signifies a crucial shift towards digitalizing the regional business landscape. The burgeoning e-commerce market underscores the escalating relevance of online sales channels for businesses, marking an era of significant growth and opportunity within the region.

Empowering Digital Transformation

This partnership between Dubai Chamber and Amazon is engineered to facilitate businesses in leveraging online platforms to boost their sales, marking a pivotal step towards the digital transformation of the retail industry. The workshop attracted participation from 141 diverse companies, offering them valuable insights into the advantages of establishing an online presence, irrespective of the business size.

A key objective of this session was to equip participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively market and sell their products on Amazon. This included direct support from Amazon’s expert team, aimed at guiding interested businesses through the process of engaging with this powerful online marketplace.

The Evolution of E-Commerce

His Excellency Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, emphasized the critical role of e-commerce in transforming business operations across all sectors, particularly retail. He stated, “The Dubai Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to empowering businesses, enhancing their e-commerce capabilities to elevate the competitiveness of our local business community and fuel sustainable economic growth.”

With the UAE positioned as the world’s 45th largest e-commerce market, projections indicate that the sector’s revenue will surge to over $9.3 billion by 2028. This optimistic outlook is supported by the UAE’s robust digital infrastructure, high internet penetration rates, and strong consumer demand for online shopping experiences.

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce stands as a pivotal connector between the business community and government entities, streamlining business processes in Dubai. Through its advocacy and support, the Chamber safeguards the interests of the business ecosystem, ensuring its members are well-equipped to thrive in the evolving digital commerce landscape.

This initiative is a testament to Dubai’s commitment to fostering an innovative, inclusive, and sustainable e-commerce environment, setting the stage for the next chapter of economic development in the UAE.
